Happy first day of Winter!

Here we are experiencing a wonderful cold front of Wintery weather! I am cozied up inside working on making Christmas gifts and watching the movie ’2012′. Luckily the gloom and doom in this movie isn’t really happening!

Snowmen.

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

More on North Carolina… It rained for a few days and eventually turned to snow. That was the first time I had ever seen snow falling and how exciting! It started to snow in the night and in the morning I was so happy to see it was clear and sunny and there were patches of snow and lots of frost to go out and enjoy! We made a cute tiny snowman family…

Oh, they melted within a few hours…

A Christmas parade in North Carolina.

I’ve just returned from a week in western North Carolina, enjoying some cold weather and celebrating Christmas with my family.

Our first day there we went into the town of Weaverville for their Christmas parade. They had a great school band, many jump ropers, unicyclists, boy scouts and girl scouts, and a lot of country charm with horses and tractors!

The photo above is from the Vance Birthplace. We went there in the evening for their Candlelight Christmas, where they demonstrated Christmas in the 1800s.

Now a couple parade photos.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here are some photos from the last few years…

Last year we drove Black Point Drive (bird watching drive). There were surprisingly few birds.

In 2009 my family and hiked and did a letterbox on the trail.

In 2008 I stayed inside and made Christmas decorations. I love to decorate for Christmas on Thanksgiving while watching the parade.

Pretty things in my studio.

I’m moving soon, and today I am packing up my studio. I love the space I’ve created here and it’s a little sad to pack up, hopefully my new space will be great too, but it’s definitely going to be a different sort of thing. I took some photos before I started packing up, so here is a look:

The crochet lily of the valley above is from Suili on etsy.

That is my handy dandy scale for shipping, and filled with yarn is a bowl I made from shredded paper, you can view that craft here at Woman’s Day.

‘Grandma Birdy’ painting by my friend Nancy, with little knick knacks from childhood.

Above is my Oma’s german typewriter (she was a writer), and my Grandparent’s wedding photo.

That’s my collection of Fern Animals from Secret Holiday (I have four). And of course dried flowers and pods in a vintage colgate bottle I found in an old landfill in Maine when I was 13.

End with my cactus and Toki Doki “cactus pups”.

On August 28th…

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

On August 28th 2008 I was at the Atlanta Aquarium…

On August 28th 2009 I was playing with my kitty…

On August 28th 2010 I was playing outside…

I’ve got nothing for 2011! I went to work in the morning and started feeling sick when I got home, seems I have a cold. Boo.

Earth Day.

In Florida, a cold front is always welcome.

I’ve had to turn the a/c on this week, it was getting to be in the mid 80s and not too comfortable inside. Well, woke up to rain this morning and very thankful for it! It was cool by the afternoon.
